Northwest sites

  • Emerald Downs. The official site for the track.
  • Horses home page. Jason Tsujikawa's collection of links to trainer Joe Toye's operation and to horses Gray Rambler, Tajun and Smooth Wine.
  • Alternative Handicapping. Tim Bennett's free Emerald Downs picks.
  • Club Broadway. The Everett club where horseplayers can go to see Emerald Downs simulcasts.
  • Hammersmith Hill Thoroughbreds. Breeders offering yearlings at the annual WTBA sale.
  • The Pace. Pay service offering selections and stats on all of the Northwest tracks, plus certain major tracks.
  • Portland Meadows. Fairly basic Web site from our neighbors to the south. Useful info if you're going there.
  • Washington Horse Racing Commission. Very nice government-run site. Pick up a licensing application, read recent rulings, or study up on the law.
  • Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association. Contacts and stuff, both for fans and for people who work in the industry. This is also the home of Washington Thoroughbred magazine.

    Selected national links

  • Blood-horse magazine. Nice in-depth articles on the sport and lots of info for horsemen. Check out the Daily Edition for up-to-date news.
  • Bloodstock Journal. Free daily newsletter from Brisnet covering the latest news.
  • Daily Racing Form. Best for its up-to-date news.
  • Del Mar Race Track. Great site from the track that runs for way too short a time in late summer. Luckily we get the simulcasts. Check out the lively Fan Forum.
  • The Exceller Fund. An Internet group that raises money to rescue retired racehorses.
  • The Haynet. All the links you could ever want on the world of horses and horse racing.
  • Hollywood Park. Recently redesigned and much-improved.
  • Santa Anita. Beautiful racetrack with a recently improved site. Lots of fancy stuff if you're equipped to handle Flash.
  • Second Running. Lots of neat historical stuff on this new site.
  • Thoroughbred Champions. Nicely designed site for fans of the sport's rich history.
  • The Washington Post. Andrew Beyer's columns are the best feature of this one.
