A lucky day at the track
By John Bowen
I have always been lucky in the past, no matter what I bet on. Well, I think
it was my second visit to Emerald last year and made a trifecta bet. At the
first turn, the jockey fell off my first horse and the horse just bolted
around the track.
Well, to my knowledge of horse racing, I didn't know that my
horse was DQ'd from the race. I was really disappointed, more mad, then I saw
the trifecta payout of a little less than a $1,000.
I turned to my wife,
cursing, and then gazed down to my ticket. To my surprise, the guy at the
ticket window had booked the wrong horse for me and I hit that trifecta.
Instant excitement! Thank God for mistakes sometimes.
